CFD modeling of an ion-drag micropump

چکیده
A two-dimensional numerical simulation study has been performed to model an electrohydrodynamic (EHD) micropump. The micropump consists of an array of interdigitated electrodes along the top and bottom of the micropump channel. The focus of the simulations was to study the effects of electrode gap, stage gap, channel height, and applied voltage. The numerical results were first validated with experimental data and then applied to obtain optimum electrode design and pump characteristics curves for geometries of interest. Additionally, the simulation results provide details about the flow behavior of the micropump and clearly capture local flow induced by EHD forces. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Numerical Modeling of the Stepped Planing Hull in Calm Water
This article describes a 3D CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulation implementation of the stepped planning hull in calm water. The turbulent free surface flow around the stepped planing hull is computed with a RANSE method, using the solver ANSYS-CFX. The turbulence model used is standard k–ε. In order to simulate the disturbed free surface, VOF model is implemented. The CFD model has bee...

متن کاملEquivalent electrical network for performance characterization of piezoelectric peristaltic micropump
Utilizing an electronic–hydraulic analogy, this study develops an equivalent electrical network of a piezoelectric peristaltic micropump which has not been modeled the whole system operation completely by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or equivalent electrical network so far due to its excessive complicated structure. The validity of the proposed model is verified by comparing the simulatio...
متن کاملStudy on Braking Panels in High Speed Trains Using CFD
With speed increasing in high-speed trains, due to limitations of other types of brakes, aerodynamic brake has become an important braking method. In this task to make better use of brake’s panel different configurations are examined and the best panel shape which provides the reasonable drag coefficient is introduced. The results of simulations are carried out with the computational fluid dyna...
